Castro in cartoons
In recognition of the death of former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, we look back on his decades in power through the lens of The Sun’s editorial cartoonists, as compiled by Sun researcher Paul McCardell. Richard Q. Yardley in The Sun and Tom Flannery in the Evening Sun covered the early years, from Castro’s rise to power through the Bay of Pigs Invasion, Cuban Missile Crisis and Mariel Boatlift. KAL picks up the story in the later years with the Elian Gonzales controversy of the 1990s.
