TD Ierlan, Albany

Victor, N.Y., faceoff specialist, sophomore In a case of whatever-you-can-do-I-can-do-better, Ierlan one-upped one of his biggest rivals. Six days after Denver senior Trevor Baptiste won 22 of 22 faceoffs and scooped up 13 ground balls against Cleveland State on Feb. 25, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound Ierlan went 24-of-24 with 22 ground balls in the No. 1 Great Danes’ 11-9 win against Cornell on Saturday. Ierlan bumped Baptiste from second place for winning the second-most faceoffs without losing one in a game in NCAA Division I history. (Sacred Heart’s Zach Smith was 25 of 25 against Hartford on April 25, 2007.) Ierlan’s 24 faceoff wins trail only Virginia sophomore Justin Schwenk’s 25 for the highest this season. Ierlan’s 22 ground balls tied Albany’s single-game record set by Zach Ornstein against UMBC on April 30, 2016.

Haley Hicklen, Florida

Baltimore, goalie, junior Hicklen set a program single-game record with 16 saves in Saturday’s 17-10 upset of then-No. 3 North Carolina. The Towson High graduate held the Tar Heels to their lowest offensive output of the season while facing 39 shots. In the first 12 minutes, she had five saves, including two against free-position shots as the Gators raced to a 4-0 lead. She has made at least 10 saves in every game and had 14 in a 16-14 setback to Maryland, Florida’s only loss this season. Last season’s Big East Goalkeeper of the Year, Hicklen has a. 546 save rate, the fifth best in Division I, and leads the team with 20 ground balls. She allows 11.1 goals per game for Florida, which moved up to No. 4 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse media poll.
