Nationals: RHP Stephen Strasburg was placed on the 10-day disabled list because of a nerve problem in the star pitcher’s neck. The team said Strasburg has a cervical nerve impingement. Strasburg did not pitch for the Nationals between June 8 and July 20 because of an inflamed right shoulder. Manager Dave Martinez said there was no timetable for his return. LHP Tommy Milone was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to fill Strasburg’s roster spot.
Cubs: The team agreed to acquire LHP Cole Hamels, 34, from the Rangers for two lowlevel prospects. ... 3B Kris Bryant landed on the DL, retroactive to Tuesday, because of his ailing left shoulder. The man who replaced him on the roster, INF David Bote hit a tying two-run homer in the ninth before Anthony Rizzo followed with a walk-off blast in a 7-6 win over the Diamondbacks.
Brewers: The team acquired two-time All-Star closer Joakim Soria from the White Sox for a pair of pitching prospects, LHP Kodi Medeiros and RHP Wilber Perez. As part of the trade, the White Sox will send the Brewers $1,064,516 to cover part of Soria’s guaranteed portion of his threeyear, $25 million contract. Soria, 34, was 0-3 with a 2.56 ERA and 16 saves this season.
Yankees: Slugger Aaron Judge was hit on his right wrist by a pitch and forced to leave early, overshadowing a 7-2 win over the Royals. Judge was taken to a hospital for an MRI.
Phillies: Rhys Hoskins, Maikel Franco and Nick Williams each hit two of the team’s record-tying seven home runs in a 9-4 victory over the Reds.
Twins: Mitch Garver hit a tiebreaking RBI double with two outs in the eighth in a 2-1 win over the Red Sox. Kyle Gibson allowed one run on four hits in eight innings.
Astros: The team acquired C Martin Maldonado from the Angels for LHP Patrick Sandoval and $250,000 in international signing bonus pool allocation. Maldonado is hitting .223 with 32 RBIs in 78 games.
