Two Reisterstown teenagers died early Thursday after being thrown from a car that crashed on the Beltway in Baltimore County, according to state police.

The fatal accident occurred on the outer loop of Interstate 695 near Providence Road about 1:18 a.m., Maryland State Police said.

A 2000 Honda Accord hit a guardrail on the highway’s right shoulder and drifted across the road before stopping in the center lane, police said. Matthias Listwan, 18, and Hannah Goodman, 15, were riding in the backseat of the car and were thrown during the crash, according to police. Listwan was pronounced dead at the scene, and Goodman was taken to Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Towson, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

As of Thursday afternoon, police were still investigating the crash and working to determine who was driving the car.

The two front-seat occupants were identified as Neiko Ali Reese Staton, an 18-year-old Reisterstown resident, and a 17-year-old from Taneytown, whom police did not identify due to the ongoing investigation.

Staton fled the scene on foot but was found on the ramp to Providence Road shortly after, police said. Both Staton and the 17-year-old were taken to Sinai Hospital for treatment.

State police spokeswoman Elena Russo said investigators suspect that alcohol and speed may be factors in the accident.

Tony Bruno, a real estate agent who was driving home to Westminster, said he was one of the first people to come upon the crash scene.

He said the back end of the Honda sedan was “completely destroyed” and resting in the lane next to the left lane. The bumper had torn off and was stuck in the right guardrail, he said.

Family members of Listwan and Goodman said they were mourning and declined to comment.

No one answered the door at Staton’s listed address.

Staton was wanted on an outstanding warrant for an unrelated traffic offense in Baltimore County, according to police. He was taken to the Baltimore County Detention Center.
