Nationals: Max Scherzer struck out 10 in six innings for his fifth win in his last five starts, a 10-4 victory over the Reds. Scherzer (15-5) also singled home a run, Bryce Harper hit his 26th homer and Trea Turner had four RBIs.

Phillies: Maikel Franco hit a three-run, two-out walk-off homer to end a 5-2 victory over the Marlins. Nick Pivetta gave up two runs on four hits in six innings, striking out seven. Rhys Hoskins hit his eighth homer in 13 games since the Home Run Derby.

Braves: Ronald Acuna Jr. led off with his first big-league triple, Johan Camargo belted a two-run double and the Braves ran their winning streak to four, beating the Mets 4-2. Mike Foltynewic­z won for the first time since July 11, allowing two runs on five hits in six innings. The Mets have lost 41 of their last 60.

Cardinals: Jose Martinez’s walk-off two-run single off Wade Davis provided a 3-2 win over the Rockies. Martinez’s key pinch hit gave the Cards their ninth walkoff win this season. The Cardinals took three of four from the Rockies. Davis blew his careerhigh fifth save in 36 chances.

Rays: Jalen Beeks got his first major-league win, C.J. Cron had a two-run single and the Rays completed a three-game sweep by beating the Angels 4-2. Mike Trout sat out due to a sore right wrist and is listed as day to day.

Rangers: Rougned Odor homered and walked a career-high five times in a 17-8 rout of the Orioles. Elvis Andrus singled twice and doubled to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, MLB’s longest active streak. The 17 runs and 18 hits were Rangers season highs.

MLB: After a historic drop during the first three months, the Elias Sports Bureau said the MLB batting average in July was .255, raising the season mark from .246 to .248. There were 6,546 hits and 6,195 strikeouts in July after strikeouts exceeded hits in two of the first three months. ... The World Series will begin Oct. 23, with Game 7 on Oct. 31, barring rainouts.
