Dodgers: OF Yasiel Puig was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed fine for fighting and inciting a benchclearing incident against the Giants. Major League Baseball announced the sanctions Thursday, two days after Puig took a swing at Giants C Nick Hundley in the seventh inning of the Dodgers’ 2-1 home loss. Hundley also was fined. Barring an appeal, Puig is scheduled to begin the suspension Friday in Seattle.

Mets: Jose Bautista hit a grand slam and had a career-high seven RBIs and the Mets set a franchise record for runs, forcing the host Phillies to use two position players for the final three innings of a 24-4 victory in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday. Corey Oswalt (2-2) allowed four solo homers in six innings, Amed Rosario hit a leadoff homer and had three RBIs and the Mets took advantage of four errors to score 11 unearned runs. The Mets have scored more than 15 runs in consecutive games for the first time in franchise history. They beat the Orioles 16-5 on Wednesday night. OF Brandon Nimmo left the game after he injured his left index finger hitting a grounder to third base. X-rays on Nimmo’s finger were negative.

Rays: As he jogged from the bullpen, Rays rookie left-hander Adam Kolarek reminded himself that he’s pitched out of basesloaded, no-out situations before. “It just hasn’t been at this level,” he said. “And certainly not in a stadium like Yankee Stadium.” Kolarek escaped a critical jam in the ninth inning Thursday for his first career save, lifting the Rays over the Yankees 3-1 to win their first series at Yankee Stadium since 2014. The Rays had lost 12 straight series in the Bronx, a record since the ballpark opened in 2009. The struggling Yankees lineup, still without injured sluggers Aaron Judge and Gary Sanchez, scored just six runs during the three-game series.

Rangers: Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre reamined out of the lineup because of his troublesome left hamstring, but still is on the active roster.
