Warrant issued in Dundalk shooting that left a woman dead and a man injured

A shooting Monday night in a Dundalk home left one woman dead and a man seriously injured. Police obtained a warrant Tuesday afternoon for Tavon Powell, 37, charging him with murder and attempted murder. “We do believe he knew both of the victims, but we’re still trying to determine what led up to the shooting,” said Cpl. Shawn Vinson, a police spokesman. Police were called to a home in the unit block of Wise Ave. at about 7:30 p.m. Monday, where they found a man and woman who had been shot inside the home. Gabrielle Marie Paugh, 26, who lived at the home, was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Aaron Michael Wearins, 34, of the 3000 block of McElderry St. in East Baltimore, was seriously injured in the shooting, police said. Divers recover body of drowning victim

Divers have recovered the body of a drowning victim at Loch Raven Reservoir, Baltimore County Police said Tuesday. The body was found at 6:21 p.m. Monday by police divers, and the identity has not been determined, police said. A man went missing Monday morning in the waters of Loch Raven Reservoir, and authoritie­s believe he drowned. Baltimore County officials said someone called 911 to report the missing swimmer just after 11 a.m., in a northern section of the reservoir near Pot Spring Road. Rescue teams from a Baltimore County Fire Department station in Texas and the Kingsville Volunteer Fire Co. responded, county fire spokeswoma­n Elise Armacost said. The girl told detectives that she was walking down the street when she heard gunfire and realized she’d been shot in the leg, Monroe said. Detectives determined the shooting occurred in the 400 block of N. Curley St., in the city’s Ellwood Park neighborho­od, just northwest of where Orleans Street meets Pulaski Highway. Monroe said she did not immediatel­y have any additional informatio­n.
