Loyola Blakefield’s soccer team opened its season with a 6-0 win over Shipley School (Pa.) at Goucher College on Tuesday. Chase Llewellyn scored twice and Dylan Becks, Cole Hendrix, Julian Schmugge and John Peterson each scored once. Luke Brigg had two assists andMatt Lala, James Ugarte, John Peterson, Dominick Caltabaino each had an assist. Loyola’s defense, led by Ben Gallagher, held Shipley to two shots. Goalies Patrick Milmoe and Tyler Ledford combined for the shutout. Alex Bentley came off the bench to score 21 points as the Dream evened their semifinal playoff series against the visiting Mystics with a 78-75 victory. Mystics star Elena Delle Donne went down with what looked to be a serious knee injury with just over 3 minutes remaining. She stumbled on a drive to the basket and collapsed to the court, clutching her left knee. ... The Las Vegas Aces will pick first in the WNBAdraft for a third straight year. The Aces won the draft lottery after barely missing the playoffs this season. The Aces had the second-best chance (27.6 percent) to secure the top choice after finishing with the second-worst combined record the last two seasons.
