Learning from McCain

- Mark Radom, Owings Mills

Sen. John McCain was one of the most honest, trustworthy politicians this country may ever have. He always put what he thought was best for the country ahead of party and politics. He was a true patriot and served our country with honor as a service member during war and as a politician for decades (“Final farewells to Sen. John McCain begin at Arizona Capitol,” Aug. 29).

Hemade a conscious decision to stand up to President Donald Trump and put country ahead of his own party's candidate and continued to do so after Mr. Trump was elected. He made it very clear that he believed that Mr. Trump was not qualified or experienced enough to be president as well as a serious threat to our country's stability. Even after he became seriously ill and knew his days were numbered, he continued to try to make the country aware of how serious a threat Mr. Trump was to the future of our nation.

Mr. McCain's legacy will be that he is one of the greatest Americans in history who even after his death was still trying to save the country from Donald Trump. Hopefully, that question will prove successful and will only add to his amazing legacy.
