Frostburg State coasts past Stevenson; Johns Hopkins rolls
Frostburg State opened its season with a 34-7 victory over host Stevenson on Thursday night. The visiting Bobcats (1-0) held the Mustangs (0-1) to 268 yards of total offense and one scoring drive with 21 seconds left in the first half. Frostburg State opened with a 21-0 lead. Connor Cox (South River) went 8-for-15 for 254 yards and Jamaal Morant (Milford Mill) made 16 catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns. Dan Williams made a three-yard run for Stevenson’s lone touchdown.
WAGNER40, BOWIESTATE23: The host Seahawks, a Division I FCS team, took a17-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised past the Bulldogs in the season opener for both teams. Bowie quarterback Amir Hall completed 28-of-42 passes for 348 yards and rushed for a team-high 65. Bulldogs Lansana Sesay made four receptions for a team-high 89 yards.
JOHNS HOPKINS 63, RANDOLPH-MACON 31: David Tammaro completed 21 of 33 for 349 yards and four touchdown passes to lead the host Blue Jays (1-0) past the Yellow Jackets (0-1).
Hopkins trailed 24-21 at the half before taking the lead on Tammaro’s second touchdown pass of the for a 28-24 lead with 13:16 left in the third quarter.
