Influential Navy grad Huey dies at age 75

Dr. Calvin Huey, who was the first AfricanAmerican football player at the Naval Academy, died last Saturday at 75. Huey was a 1967 graduate of the Naval Academy and earned two varsity letters on the football team as a wide receiver. He served two tours in Vietnam, serving as a pilot in the Marine Corps. Huey’s funeral will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Annapolis (31 West Washington Street). There will be a memorial service at the Naval Academy on Friday at 2 or 3 p.m. LACROSSE: A limited number of tickets are available for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, hosted by US Lacrosse on Sept. 29 at The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley.
