Northbound I-83 ramp off Padonia Road to close

-

The ramp to head north on Interstate 83 from Padonia Road will be closed starting Sept. 19, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration. The closure will be in effect until summer 2021 while crews widen Padonia Road underneath the northbound and southbound bridges that carry I-83 overhead. The $22 million project is expected to ease traffic on Padonia Road during peak travel hours. According to the SHA release, the closure marks the first step in a project that will also replace the I-83 bridges over Padonia Road. Instead of using the Padonia ramp, drivers will be redirected south on Deereco Road to Greenspring Road, toward the entrance ramp nearest the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Message signs and concrete barriers will guide drivers, the news release said. “Motorists should plan on singlelane closures and traffic splits on Padonia Road to provide a safe work zone and allow for removal of the old bridge and construction of the new bridge,” the news release said. after the Harford County sheriff ’s office reopened investigations of unsolved sexual assault cases in August 2017 to review evidence collection kits, also known as rape kits, from those past cases, according to Cristie Hopkins, director of media relations for the sheriff ’s office.
