Rays: LHP Blake Snell took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and allowed just one run on one hit while striking out nine and walking two in seven innings as the Rays beat the AL Centrallea­ding Indians 3-1 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Snell earned his majorleagu­e-leading 19th victory and set a team- record seventh straight start.

Astros: Alex Bregman drove in three runs and OF George Springer made a run-saving diving catch to end the eighth inning, helping the Astros sweep a series at Comerica Park for the first time with a 5-4 victory over the Tigers. It was the 10th win in the last 11 games for the AL West leaders.

Athletics: Matt Olson hit a three-run HR during a 10-run third in which the first 11 batters reached base, and the A’s beat the host Orioles 10-0 for their sixth straight victory. RHP Daniel Mengden pitched five innings of no-hit relief in the win.

Twins, Yankees: RHP Jake Odorizzi lost a no-hitter with one out in the eighth but struck out five and allowed just one hit and one earned run as the Twins beat the visiting Yankees 3-1. Ehire Adrianza, Williams Astudillo and Max Kepler drove in runs in the victory. ... Yankees manager Aaron Boone said All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman is nearing the final stage of his rehab from left knee tendinitis and could return to the bullpen “sometime next week ... if everything goes well.” Chapman was placed on the 10-day DL on Aug. 22.

Brewers: 1

Cardinals: Ahead of a key four-game home series against the Dodgers, the Cardinals suffered a 4-3 loss to the Pirates in St. Louis. The Cardinals’ lead over the Dodgers for the second NL wild card narrowed to two games. Pirates LHP Felipe Vazquez struck out Matt Carpenter with two on to end the game for his 22nd straight save.
