Dons stay on a roll in boys soccer

Loyola tops Mount St. Joe for fourth straight victory; Curley blasts John Carroll

No. 3 Loyola Blakefield took a first-half lead and held host Mount Saint Joseph scoreless to win, 2-0, in boys soccer Tuesday.

Alex Munoz scored on a header from 12 yards out before Ben Gallagher added a header with 13 minutes left in the first half. The Dons stayed perfect at 4-0, 3-0 Maryland Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n A Conference) and the Gaels fell to 1-2-1, 1-2-1.

Loyola’s defense limited Mount Saint Joseph to two shots.

NO. 9 ARCHBISHOP CURLEY 7, JOHN CARROLL 0: Alex Herrero had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Friars (2-3, 2-2 MIAA A Conference) past the Patriots (2-4, 0-3). Curley goalies Michael Caulkins and Brandon Herr made one save each in the shutout.

ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 2, ST. PAUL’S 1: Alex Flores and Thomas Homa each scored in a second-half comeback by the visiting Cavaliers (5-1, 2-1 MIAA A Conference) over the Crusaders (0-3-1, 0-3-1).

MARYVALE 7, BRYN MAWR 1: A strongseco­nd half help carry the Lions (1-3, 1-1 IAAM A Conference) past the host Mawrtians (1-2, 0-1). Emma Buchanan had four goals and Lizzie Francioli made 10 saves for Maryvale, which went on a 5-0 run in the second half.
