CM Wright gets upper hand in soccer showdown

Mustangs take control of division; Mercy routs Glenelg Country in soccer

Tuesday’s boys soccer matchup pitting C. Milton Wright at Aberdeen was a battle for the lead in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Area Conference’s Chesapeake Division.

Both teams came into the game with 2-0 division marks and 5-2 overall records. Aberdeen missed a good chance to score early, and CMWreeled off four straight goals en route to a 4-1 win.

“They were 2-0 in the conference and I give them credit, they played a stronger schedule coming into us out of county than I’ve seen historical­ly,” CMW coach Brian Tully said. “So, I didn’t think we were going to surprise them.”

NO. 5 MEADE 6, NORTHEAST 0: Silas Baker and Lawrence Leon each scored twice to lead the Mustangs (8-1) past the host Eagles (1-5-1).

NO. 13 TOWSON 2, CATONSVILL­E 1: Koshish Giri and Bryce Vanik each scored to lead the visiting Generals (7-0-1) past the Comets (1-4-1).

Girls soccer

NO. 11 MERCY 6, GLENELG COUNTRY 1: Ada Claire Tempert had a hat trick to lead the host Magic (7-3, 2-1 Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n of Maryland A Conference) past the Dragons (1-6, 0-4).

Field hockey

NO. 2 ARCHBISHOP SPALDING 3, MARYVALE1: Jules Ramey had two goals for the host Cavaliers (10-3, 3-1 IAAM A Conference), who took a 3-0 lead over the Lions (4-5, 2-3) in the first half.

NO. 10 ARUNDEL 1, CHESAPEAKE-AA 0, 2OT: Emma Jeffries scored 40 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Wildcats (6-3) over the host Cougars (6-4).

NO. 11 MCDONOGH 3, BRYN MAWR 1: Katelyn Whittle scored twice to lead the host Eagles (4-1, 3-1 IAAM A Conference) past the Mawrtians (2-4, 0-3).

MARRIOTTS RIDGE 2, ATHOLTON 0: Eloise Clevenger and Grace Kennedy each scored to lead the Mustangs (5-4) past the host Raiders (1-4).

Girls volleyball

NO. 8 ARUNDEL 3, OLD MILL 0: Mackenzie Meehan had 15 kills to lead the visiting Wildcats (6-1) past the Patriots (0-7). Arundel won, 25-10, 25-14, 25-11.

Golf

PATTERSON MILL WINS: The Huskies claimed the UCBAC tournament Upper Division with a score of 216 at Bulle Rock. Fallston took second with 222 and Bel Air third with 224.
