Terps men’s lax hosting Team IMPACT fundraiser
The Maryland men’s lacrosse team will be hosting its fourth annual Team IMPACT Walk Saturday, Oct. 6, on the campus of the University of Maryland. Registration for the event begins at noon between Gates G & F of Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium (horseshoe end). The 3-mile walk around campus will then begin shortly after noon. The Maryland men’s lacrosse team has been heavily involved with Team IMPACT since 2015. Many of the school’s other sports teams, including baseball, will be joining the walk. COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Bowie State senior Lansana Sesay was selected as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Receiver of the Week for the third time this season. Sesay led all receivers with nine catches, 107 reception yards and the game winning catch in Bowie State’s 20-17 home debut victory against Winston-Salem State. WOMEN’S COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Senior outside hitter Meghan Kelley (Centennial) had a team-high 19 kills as St. Mary’s (12-8) defeated host Notre Dame of Maryland (14-4). Senior captain Hannah Krauss (Severna Park) added a seasonhigh 13 kills plus a block solo and three block assists. MARYLAND ADMINISTRATION: Athletic Director Damon Evans announced a pair of updates to the department’s executive administration, naming ShawnFlynnas senior associate athletic director for internal operations and Dr. Sue Sherburne as senior woman administrator. Sherburne will also continue in her role as senior associate athletic director for academics & student development. BASEBALL: The regular meeting of “Talkin’ Baseball” will be held on Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. at Brighton Gardens, 7110 Minstrel Way, Columbia.
