Baltimore’s Vennari wins fourth minor league tour title

Dominick Vennari of Baltimore eagled the par-5 17th hole at The Evergreen Club in Palm City, Fla., to pull away for his fourth victory on the Minor League Golf Tour. Vennari beat Collin Neeman of Columbia, Ill., 71-74. In addition to the late eagle, Vennari had three birdies and four bogeys. Neeman had five birdies, three bogeys and double bogeys at the par-4 sixth and par-5 11th holes. LOCALGOLF: Michael Brennan, 16, of Leesburg, Va., broke away from Gordon Brixi, 16, of Potomac with back-to-back birdies early on the final nine holes to win the 112th Middle Atlantic Golf Associatio­n’s Amateur championsh­ip with par-72 and a 72-hole total of 283 at Lakewood Country Club in Rockville. The event’s youngest champion when he won last year, Brennan became the event’s first successive winner since Deane Beman in 1962-1963. Brixi, third last year, was second (73-287), followed by Jeffrey Long of Ashburn, Va. (73-288).
