Prince George’s officer faces rape, assault charges

A Prince George’s County police officer facing rape and sexual assault charges directed a woman he had pulled over to drive behind a nearby store and ordered her to perform a sex act on him, charging documents allege. The officer, who was on duty, in uniform and a marked car, then told the woman he wanted sex but left the scene after a witness arrived in the area, according to the documents. Officer 1st Class Ryan Macklin, 29, was arrested Monday, police said. He is scheduled for his first appearance in court today. Online court records did not list an attorney for Macklin. Macklin, a six-year veteran of the Police Department, has been suspended without pay. In addition to charges of first- and second-degree rape, Macklin has been charged with second-degree assault and other related charges.

Ex-sheriff’s aide admits giving gang informatio­n

Aformer Anne Arundel County sheriff’s employee pleaded guilty Tuesday to providing sealed informatio­n to a gang before it became public. Chanel Holland, 36, of Glen Burnie, faced a federal charge of obstructin­g an official proceeding in U.S. District Court in Baltimore after police said she used her position at the sheriff’s office to give informatio­n from indictment­s to 10 alleged gang members. Holland faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Her sentencing is scheduled for March 26. According to the U.S. attorney’s office, Holland, a civilian management aide with the sheriff’s office, was providing the informatio­n to “a violent drug traffickin­g organizati­on” headed by Traymont Wiley, 26, of Annapolis. Wiley is facing 33 charges in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court, including drug distributi­on and gang affiliatio­n. Kirstin Hopkins, Holl and’s attorney, said Holland “i s deeply remorseful and immediatel­y accepted responsibi­lity in this case.” Holland was removed by Sheriff Ron Bateman when she was first charged with
