Lacey’s goal sends Sailors to 2-1 victory in field hockey

The Mount de Sales field hockey team stayed on top of the Interschol­astic Athletic Associatio­n of Maryland B Conference with a 2-1 victory over visiting Severn on senior day.

Sophomore Charlotte Lacey scored the game-winning goal with 2:05 left in regulation, off an assist by Morgan YandowHard­ing for the Sailors (8-1).

“We just felt it and we just went with it,” Lacey said. “It felt like it was in slo-mo kind of, just all of it happening in the moment, it was just great.”

NO. 11 BROADNECK2, CHESAPEAKE-AA 0: Ethan Loftis assisted on both goals and the Bruins (11-2) shut out the host Cougars (4-8-1). John Vaaler made five saves for Broadneck and Ethan Belcher had eight saves for Chesapeake.

ARUNDEL 5, NORTHEAST 2: Spencer Hanks had four goals and an assist to lead the host Wildcats (6-3-2) past the Eagles (3-7-1).
