Emily Konkus, Hereford, cross country
The All-Metro senior hit a personal record in winning Saturday’s Baltimore County cross country championship at Baltimore Agriculture Center, repeating as champion and leading the Bulls to a second straight team title. Konkus, in her fourth varsity season, finished with a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds, 20 seconds faster than Dulaney runner-up Brooke Ruffin. Hereford finished with 30 points and won by 20 points over second-place Dulaney. Konkus placed second at Boonsboro’s Frank Keyser Invitational and fifth at Dulaney’s Barnhart Memorial with the team claiming wins in both events. She plans to run in college and has narrowed her choices to Johns Hopkins, Maryland and Washington University in St. Louis.
