Salisbury, coach Sachs part ways after three seasons

In an agreement with the school, Andrew Sachs said he will not return as men’s basketball coach. A Pasadena native and graduate of Chesapeake High and Salisbury, Sachs has served as the head coach for three years, compiling a record of 59-26. His inaugural season ended with a 21-7 record, marking the most wins for a first-year head coach in program history. Under Sachs, the Sea Gulls received a national ranking for all three seasons, with two NCAA tournament appearance­s. Brian McDermott will take over as interim coach. MORE: Coppin State’s LamarMorga­nandDejuan Clayton were named to the preseason All-MidEastern Athletic Conference team. Morgan was named to the second team while Clayton earned third team honors. The Eagles were picked to finish ninth in the preseason poll as voted on by the conference’s head coaches and sports informatio­n directors, while Morgan State was selected to finish sixth and UMES in 11th. —
