Phillips, who finished with 14 carries for 122 yards, scored on a 57-yard run to cap a three-play, 69-yard drive early in the second quarter. Saunders, who had 62 yards on just seven carries, pounded his way into the end zone for a 4-yard score with1:05 remaining in the first half.

Phillips sealed the victory with a 28-yard touchdown run up the middle with just over three minutes remaining.

“Weknew it was going to be a tough game. It was raining; we couldn’t catch the ball,” Andrews said. “We showed that we have a lot of heart and we can push through anything.”

Trailing 21-20, the Wildcats used a pass interference call on fourth down to keep their final scoring drive alive. Austin Slye hit Jeremy Weinstein on the next play for 32 yards, followed by Andrews’ go-ahead score.

LIBERTY 49, FRANCIS SCOTT KEY 13: The host Lions (9-0-, 5-0 Carroll) extended their winning streak to nine games in a row by beating the Eagles (3-5, 0-5).

Liberty ran for more than 300 yards and had nine players carry the ball at least once. Five of the Lions’ seven touchdowns came on the ground, and that’s with Carroll’s secondleading passer (entering play Friday) running the offense in junior Nate Kent.

“We’re very inexperienced on the offensive line, and that [was] our big question mark — can we put it together?” Liberty coach Larry Luthe said. “Those kids play together. They play hard for each other.”

Luthe credited assistant coach Matt Schilling for preaching responsibilities and discipline, but the players certainly have to do their part.

From left to right along the line of scrimmage, the Lions turn to junior Kyle Hutchison, junior McClain Butler, senior Braden Puller, junior Garrett Geidel, and senior Sammy Nehme.

Jake Liska, a sophomore, gets his repetitions along the O-line as well.

Kent had 87 of his 95 rushing yards (unofficial) in the half and finished with 90 passing yards.
