The Mets agreed to a deal to make agent Brodie Van Wagenen their new general manager, according to reports. Van Wagenen, 44, whose division at Creative Artists Agency represents Mets players Jacob deGrom, Yoenis Cespedes, Noah Syndergaard and Todd Frazier, was one of two finalists to replace Sandy Alderson.
The top five of The AP college football poll remained the same with defending national champion Alabama at No. 1, followed by Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU and Michigan. But the back end of the rankings was overhauled after nine of the 11 teams ranked Nos. 15-25 lost. Seven teams going from unranked to ranked was the most since the AP poll expanded to 25 in 1989. Xander Schauffele birdied his last two holes for a 4-under 68 and then two-putted for birdie on the par-5 18th in a playoff to beat Tony Finau and win the HSBCChampions in Shanghai. It was Schauffele’s first victory since the 2017 Tour Championship. Schauffele and Finau (71) finished regulation at the WGC event at 14-under 274, four better than defending tournament champion Justin Rose (72). ...
