With 60 seconds left and Arundel holding on to a tenuous one-goal advantage, Evan Slaney stood tall yet again.

A Severna Park shot appeared set to tuck itself just inside the top bar, but the junior goalkeeper tipped it over, the eighth and final save of his perfect evening.

Slaney’s clean sheet, combined with Spencer Hanks’ 20th goal in the 16th minute, gave Arundel a 1-0 victory over host Severna Park in a Class 4A East Region Section I semifinal.

“They pressed really hard all night and it came down to communication for us on defense,” Slaney said. “It was about the defense marking their guys and having the confidence to stay with them all game.”

The Wildcats (9-4-3) improved their unbeaten streak to five and won for the sixth time in eight games. Arundel lost to the Falcons (9-5-1) early in the season, but this was a different bunch this time around.

NO. 3 C. MILTON WRIGHT 3, DUNDALK 0: Ryan Belifore scored twice and the host Mustangs (11-2) shut out the Owls (6-8-2) in a Class 3A North Section II semifinal.

HARFORD TECH1, NORTH HARFORD 0, 4-2 PKS: The host Cobras (10-2) and Hawks (6-9-1) played100 scoreless minutes sending the game to penalty kicks where Harford Tech had the winning edge in Class 2A East section 1 semifinal.

"It is an emotional roller coaster, I mean it was back and forth, great game,” Tech coach Mike Dempsey said.

CATONSVILLE 1, DULANEY 0, 4-3 PKS: The host Lions (8-5-2) had the advantage in the penalty-kick shootout, but the Comets (7-5-1) emerged with a victory after 100 minutes of scoreless soccer in a Class 4A North Section I semifinal.
