Maryland State’s Boozer inducted into hall of fame

Former Maryland State running back Emerson Boozer has been inducted into the Black College Football Hall of Fame for the Class of 2019. A College Football Hall of Fame inductee in 2010 and a New York Jets Ring of Honor member as of 2015, Boozer compiled 2,537 rushing yards and scored 22 touchdowns with the Hawks from 1962 to 1965. Maryland State (now UMES) went 18-9-1 during his tenure as Boozer was a two-time All-American. Bryson DeChambeau fired a 5-under 66 to secure a one-shot win at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas. Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia won the New York City Marathon, holding off countryman Shura Kitata by 1.99 seconds. Desisa finished in 2:05:59 seconds. Mary Keitany of Kenya became the second woman to win the marathon four times, beating countrywom­an Vivian Cheruiyot by 3 minutes, 13 seconds. Keitany ran the race in 2:22:48, the second fastest in history.
