Woman injured in automobile crash on I-97

-

A 29-year-old woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 97 Friday morning, causing traffic to back up for miles during the heart of the morning commute to Annapolis. Firefighters responded to a report of a crash on I-97 south near the exit for Route 178 at 7:22 a.m., said Capt. Russ Davies, spokesman for the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Davies said two cars crashed near the Crownsville Road overpass. One of the drivers, a 29-year-old woman, had her leg trapped in the driver’s side door, Davies said. She was taken to the hospital with serious injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Davies said the other driver did not appear to be injured by the crash.
