Man gets 3 consecutiv­e life terms for 3 killings in Bowie

A man who pleaded guilty to killing three men at the Blue Sunday Bar in Bowie in January of 2017 was sentenced Monday afternoon to three consecutiv­e life terms. Prosecutor­s said in Prince George’s County Circuit Court that Karlief Moye of Silver Spring was a bartender at Blue Sunday and got into an argument over $2,100 in compensati­on. Moye returned shortly after the argument and shot Jin Chen, Sherwood Morgan and Xue Xin Zou in the bar’s office, prosecutor­s said, then took money from a desk and fled. Judge Dorothy Engel said a surveillan­ce video shows Moye callously stepping over a body to grab some cash after the shooting, a contrast to the loving man full of life friends and families painted him as during sentencing Monday. He unsuccessf­ully tried to kill himself after the shooting, Moye said during sentencing. Moye’s defense called on two experts,
