2 killed, 7 injured in shootings

Two people were killed and another seven injured in shootings over the weekend, according to police.

Just before 3 p.m. Sunday, a 49-year-old man was shot in the 3700 block of Belvedere Ave. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

An hour earlier, two men, ages 33 and 35, were shot in the1200 block of E. Lanvale St., one in the arm and one in the leg. Both were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Another man was shot to death early Sunday morning in Northeast Baltimore, police said.

The man, who has not been positively identified, was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting, which happened at 1:21 a.m. in the 5600 block of Midwood Ave. in Cameron Village, police said.

Baltimore police shooting detectives were also investigat­ing incidents that left five people shot Friday afternoon and night.

The first two shooting incidents were reported about 16 minutes apart in the early afternoon. At 1:38 p.m., officers in the Eastern District heard shots and located a woman who had been shot in the arm in the 1000 block of E. 20th St., police said.

Then at 1:54 p.m., police in the Western District were called to the intersecti­on of West Baltimore and Carey streets, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Police did not say where he was hit, but said the injury was not life-threatenin­g.

Another victim hurt in the same incident showed up at a local hospital seeking treatment, police said.

Two more shootings were reported about a half-hour apart in Northeast Baltimore later in the day.

Someone was shot inside a home in the 3800 block of Echodale Ave. around 8:58 p.m. Officers found a 40-year-old man with gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a hospital, according to police.

Homicide detectives are investigat­ing the Echodale Avenue shooting because of the severity of the man’s injuries.

At 9:36 p.m. a 39-year-old man was shot at a liquor store in the 4300 block of Belair Road. He had been shot in the hand and leg, and was taken to a hospital, police said.

On Belair Road, two blocks to the immediate south and west of the liquor store had been illuminate­d by bright police lights before the shooting.
