Baltimore’s November is its wettest on record

-

Saturday’s downpours made this Baltimore’s wettest November in what is already its wettest year on record. And more rain fell Monday. There had been 7.72 inches of precipitation at BaltimoreWashington International Thurgood Marshall Airport this month through Saturday, breaking a record of 7.68 inches dating to 1952. That means Baltimore has now experienced two monthly rainfall records this year. The other was set in July, when nearly 17 inches of precipitation fell. 2018 became Baltimore’s wettest year on record earlier this month, so each additional rainy day means we are just adding to that extreme. The annual total at BWI is up to 64.86 inches. Another 0.4 inches of rain had fallen at BWI through 2 p.m. Monday, and some rain was expected to continue through the afternoon hours. A low-pressure system was moving toward New England. A coastal flood advisory was in effect along the shores of Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties and Baltimore City. High tides Monday afternoon and evening were forecast to be 1.5 to 2 feet above normal. High pressure was forecast to move in, bringing dry weather for today and Wednesday.
