Towson’s Simpson, O’Neill selected AP FCS All-Americans

Towsonreds­hirt junior ShaneSimps­onandjunio­r kicker Aidian O’Neill were selected to the Associated Press Football Championsh­ip Subdivisio­n All-America team Tuesday. Simpson was named to the first team after finishing the season ranked second nationally in all-purpose yards, averaging 177.64 yards per game. Simpson, named Colonial Athletic Associatio­n Special Teams Player of the Year as a kick returner, had 615 rushing yards, 347 receiving yards and 12 total touchdowns. O’Neill earned third-team honors after making a school-record 22 field goals on 29 attempts. MORE: For the second year in a row, Bowie State quarterbac­k Amir Hall was named BOXTOROW National Offensive Player of the Year. The senior from Bowie led the Bulldogs to a10-3 record, their first Central Intercolle­giate Athletic Associatio­n championsh­ip and a win in the first round of the NCAA Division II playoffs. Hall became the CIAA’s all-time leading passer, as he finished the season completing 65 percent of his passes for 4,152 yards and 31 touchdowns. He also rushed for 445 yards and seven touchdowns. Hall, the HBCU Gameday/Protect Your Skull National Offensive Player of The Year, was also selected to the 12th annual BOXTOROW All-America team. Bowie State’s Lansana Sesay and Oluwaleke Ajenifuja were awarded honorable mention.
