Navy lacrosse’s Richter selected Marshall Scholar

Navy women’s lacrosse junior Anne Richter was named a Marshall Scholar, one of the most prestigiou­s honors available to undergradu­ate students in the United States. This year, over 1,000 candidates competed for the 48 scholarshi­ps awarded. Richter, a mechanical engineerin­g major, is one of 29 midshipman in the class of 2019 selected to be Bowman scholars, and is currently conducting independen­t research with nuclear applicatio­ns. As a member of the Navy women’s lacrosse team, she was named to the Patriot League academic honor roll and Eastern College Athletic Conference President’s Honor Roll for maintainin­g a 4.0 GPA while playing a Division I sport.

WOMEN’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: CCBC Essex announced that it will once again offer women’s basketball as a varsity sport beginning next fall after a 15-year absence. The Knights are currently interviewi­ng head coach candidates, and anticipate making that announceme­nt sometime after the New Year.
