Strug­gling Ducks fire coach Car­lyle

The Ducks fired coach Randy Car­lyle on Sun­day amid a seven-game los­ing streak and freefall into last place in the West­ern Con­fer­ence.

Car­lyle, 62, the win­ningest coach in Ducks his­tory, was in his sec­ond stint with the team. He led the Ducks to the Stan­ley Cup in 2007 and three ap­pear­ances in the West­ern Con­fer­ence fi­nal (2006, 2007, 2017).

The Ducks have lost 19 of their last 21 games. They set a team record with 12 straight de­feats last month.

Gen­eral man­ager Bob Murray will serve as in­terim coach the rest of the sea­son.

Do­minik Kahun had two goals and an as­sist, Cam Ward made 43 saves and the Black­hawks beat the vis­it­ing Red Wings 5-2 for their sev­enth straight win. Pa­trick Kane ex­tended the league’s long­est ac­tive point streak to 14 games with a goal in the third pe­riod. He added a late as­sist. Alex De­Brin­cat ex­tended his ca­reer-best point streak to eight games with three as­sists in the win. ... Vladimir Tarasenko com­pleted a hat trick by scor­ing 16 sec­onds into OT, and the Blues edged the Preda­tors 5-4 for their sixth straight win.
