Murray, Crosby help Pens halt skid

Matt Murray made 50 saves and Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist to lead the Penguins to a 4-1 victory over the Flyers on Monday night in Philadelph­ia.

Jake Guentzel and Nick Bjugstad also scored and Kris Letang had an empty-netter for the Penguins, who snapped a four-game losing streak while winning for just the fourth time in the last 12. The Penguins entered holding the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Jakub Voracek scored for the Flyers, who lost for just the second time in 11 games. They now stand eight points behind the Penguins.

Flyers rookie goalie Carter Hart, 20, had his eight-game win streak halted, falling one game shy of setting an NHL record for consecutiv­e victories prior to turning 21.

Evgeny Kuznetsov had two goals and two assists, leading the Capitals to a 6-4 victory over the visiting Kings. Kuznetsov has six goals and six assists in six games since the All-Star break to help the defending Stanley Cup champions go 4-1-1 on their longest homestand of the season. ...
