More bad weather is headed this way
The Baltimore area is in for a “potentially significant” round of snow, sleet and freezing rain this week. A “pretty sizable storm” is headed for the area Tuesday night into Wednesday, potentially bringing a substantial round of wintry precipitation, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Dan Hofman. Though the week will start off with temperatures of 50 degrees today, that will drop into the 20s Tuesday, then to just above freezing Wednesday afternoon. By Sunday afternoon, the National Weather Service had reports of a light glaze of ice along the Maryland and Pennsylvania border, Hofman said. Freezing rain and sleet was expected mostly for areas outside Interstate 695 Sunday night, Hohman said, including Howard County, Carroll County, Northern Baltimore County and Northwest Harford County. The weather service says that total sleet and snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected with ice accumulations of around one-tenth of an inch.
