- By Daniel Oyefusi

The Ravens signed wide receiver/ return specialist De’Anthony Thomas and released cornerback Maurice Canady in a corresponding move, the team announced Tuesday.

The signing comes one day after coach John Harbaugh called his special teams unit “inconsistent.” Cornerback/punt returner Cyrus Jones muffed a punt in Sunday’s 37-20 win over the New England Patriots.

The Ravens rank fifth in the NFL in yards per punt return (9.4) but 28th in yards per kick return (19.3).

Thomas, 26, was released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 22. Drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 draft, Thomas returned 13 kickoffs and seven punts for Kansas City this season. He averaged 4.2 yards per punt return and 22.1 yards per kick return.

Thomas was released after fumbling for the second time this season in a 30-6 win over the Denver Broncos on Oct. 17.

DE Onuoha signed to practice squad

The Ravens signed defensive end Michael Onuoha to the practice squad, the team also announced.

The Miami Dolphins signed running De’Lance Turner to their 53-man roster, opening up the spot.

The Ravens signed Onuoha, 26, as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&MCommerce. Hewas released with an injury settlement in August after fracturing his wrist in the team’s first preseason game.

Super Bowl odds

After knocking off the then-undefeated New England Patriots with a 37-20 victory Sunday night, odds for the Ravens’ Super Bowl chances have ballooned.

Sitting at 6-2 at the halfway point of the regular season, the Ravens have the third-best odds to win the Super Bowl (6/1), only behind the Patriots (5/2) and New Orleans Saints (9/2), according to Las Vegas sportsbooks.

The Ravens opened the season with the 17th-best odds to win the Super Bowl (32/1), eighth-highest among AFC teams.

Riding a four-game winning streak, these odds have increased behind the stellar play of quarterback Lamar Jackson. His MVP chances have also risen as the second-year player now holds the thirdbest odds (7/2) to be named MVP, behind Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (9/4) and Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson (7/2).

Jackson entered the season with 50/1 odds to win MVP, 19th-best to start the season. That number increased to 11/1 after throwing for five touchdowns in a seasonopening win over the Miami Dolphins.

He’s completed 64.3% of his passes for 1,813 yards and 12 touchdowns and has just five interceptions. Jackson has also rushed for 637 yards, 11th-best in the league, as well as five touchdowns.
