Pen­guins rally, end Isles’ long win streak

Bryan Rust scored his se­cond goal of the game in over­time and the Pen­guins ended the Is­lan­ders’ 10game win­ning streak with a 4-3 vic­tory Thurs­day night in New York.

Rust ex­tended his points streak to five games.

The Pen­guins erased a three-goal deficit in the third pe­riod and ended a three-game skid. Jared McCann had a goal and two as­sists, Ev­geni Malkin also scored, and Matt Mur­ray made 20 saves.

Blues’ Steen out: Blues winger Alex Steen will miss at least four weeks due to a high an­kle sprain.

Steen in­jured his left an­kle in a col­li­sion with the Oil­ers’ Alex Chais­son late in the se­cond pe­riod of the de­fend­ing Stan­ley Cup cham­pi­ons’ 5-2 road win over the Oil­ers on Wed­nes­day night.

The Blues put Steen on IR on Thurs­day. He will be re-eval­u­ated in four weeks.

Steen, 35, has five as­sists in 17 games this sea­son.

The Blues, who have won six in a row, al­ready are with­out winger Vladimir Tarasenko for the rest of the reg­u­lar sea­son.

One-timers: In his se­cond game back from a se­v­engame in­jury ab­sence, John Tavares scored at 2:33 of OT to give the Maple Leafs a 2-1 vic­tory over the vis­it­ing Golden Knights. ... Tom Wil­son scored twice, the se­cond 17 sec­onds into OT to lift Cap­i­tals to a 5-4 win over the host Pan­thers. It was the Caps’ fifth straight vic­tory.
