Caroline A. Dann, a retired law firm administra­tor, died last Wednesday at Stella Maris Hospice of complicati­ons from vascular disease. The Timonium resident was 91.

The former Caroline Anne Jones, daughter of Somerset Orme Jones, a breeder of Hampton sheep, and his wife, Caroline Anne Lycett Jones, a homemaker, was born in Baltimore and raised on Abbottston Farm, her family’s Ellicott City farm.

She was a1947 graduate of St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, Virginia, and the Bard Avon School, a Baltimore business and secretaria­l school.

For about two decades, she was a secretary and court reporter to Howard County Circuit Court Judges James Clark and James Macgill, and was responsibl­e for preparing trial transcript­s for appellate purposes.

She was known throughout the Howard County courthouse as “Miss Anne,” family members said.

In 1967, she married Wallace Dann, an attorney, and later worked in his law office as an administra­tor of his law practice books and records.

She was a former parishione­r of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, and after her marriage became a communican­t of Epiphany Episcopal Church, where she was a member of its Altar Guild.

“Her main hobby in life was caring for her family,” said her husband.

A memorial service for Mrs. Dann will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at her church, 2216 Pot Spring Road, Timonium.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a stepson, Geoffrey Dann of Ventura, California; two stepdaught­ers, Katherine Roberts of Derby, Connecticu­t, and Pamela Butler of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Matilda Jones of West Friendship and Carol Carlson of Ellicott City; five grandchild­ren; and two greatgrand­children.
