Ailing Lightning win 9th straight
Yanni Gourde scored a short-handed goal and Andrei Vasilevskiy finished with 29 saves to lift the Lightning to their ninth straight victory, 3-1 over the Oilers on Thursday night in Tampa, Fla.
The Lightning also won their 10th in a row at home.
Vasilevskiy improved to 18-0-2 in his last 20 starts. Pat Maroon and Cedric Paquette also scored for the Lightning, who won despite playing without top two scorers Steven Stamkos and Nikita Kucherov.
Kucherov suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday, while Stamkos missed his third straight game, also with a lower-body injury. He did participate in the team’s morning skate.
The Oilers played their second consecutive game without captain Connor McDavid, who’s out 2-to-3 weeks with a thigh injury.
Stars’ Seguin ends drought: Tyler Seguin snapped a 17-game goal drought, Ben Bishop made 27 saves and the Stars beat the host Maple Leafs 3-2.
Denis Gurianov and Radek Faksa also scored for the Stars, who earned their third straight victory.
Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen stopped 16 of 19 shots after missing four games with a neck injury.
The Stars placed right wing Alexander Radulov on IR with an upper-body injury.
The roster move is retroactive to Tuesday, meaning Radulov, 33, will not be eligible to return until Feb. 18.
