Wolfe ‘flagged’ for COVID-19 symptoms

While an elbow injury has kept Ravens defensive end Derek Wolfe on the injury report since last week, coach John Harbaugh said Wolfe was held out of the team’s Week 4 win against the Washington Football Team for precautionary measures related to COVID-19.

Wolfe was “flagged for symptoms” last Saturday before the game and the team ultimately sat him to be safe, Harbaugh said.

“His wife had been traveling and they both got sick, so our [doctors] held him out away from the team,” Harbaugh said Friday on a video conference call. “He didn’t have COVID but they held him out for symptoms, so that’s what happened there. He’s good to go.

“Nobody really thought it was COVIDrelated,” Harbaugh added. “It was just an abundance of precaution.”

Wolfe was a full participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday but was not seen by the media at practice Friday, a possible vet day for the 30-year-old.

Across the league, an outbreak within the Tennessee Titans organization and positive tests from the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs have forced the NFL to reschedule multiple games, including the Ravens’ now-Week 8 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Ravens have placed just one player on the reserve/COVID-19 list — practice squad safety Nigel Warrior — which occurred as the team opened training camp in late July. The NFL created the list for players who have tested positive for COVID-19 or been possibly exposed to someone with COVID-19.
