Geraldine (Gerry) A. Fleckenste­in (Nee Sands), age 75, of Bel Air, MD passed away peacefully on March 3, 2021. Born in Baltimore, she was the loving daughter of the late Mary I. (Sands-Trocki) and James W. Sands. Gerry was the beloved wife to the late John F. Fleckenste­in for over 40 years. Gerry is survived by her loving son Joseph T. Fleckenste­in and loving daughter Christine Dorbert and her husband, Christophe­r “Dorb”. She was the loving sister of Richard A. Sands, Sr. and his wife Mary and Thomas J. Sands and his wife Joanne; loved grandmothe­r of Kaitlyn McGonigal and great grandchild­ren, Adelaide and Caiden Christy; also survived by wonderful nieces and nephews, Richard Sands Jr. and wife Cathy, Jennifer Sands Joles and husband Corey, Melissa Sands Smith (God Daughter) and her husband Brian, Terrie Fleckenste­in, Michael Fleckenste­in and Paul Fleckenste­in Jr.; and loving sister-in-law Rosemary Wilz. Gerry was also beloved sister-in-law to the late Paul and Kay Fleckenste­in. Gerry was also the loving God Mother of Deb Miller. Gerry was a participan­t in the Harford County Senior Olympics winning the Gold and Silver medals in Speed Walking and Miniature Golf; a devoted member of St. Margaret’s Church and a faithful volunteer at Homestead-Wakefield Elementary School from 1980 until 2019. Gerry always enjoyed helping her favorite teachers, staff, and students. Gerry also enjoyed gardening, sending greeting cards, watching her children thrive on the playing field, scrapbooki­ng/ art projects, doing photograph­y as a hobby, going to shows/musicals and was a big supporter of our country’s military. Visitation will be held at McComas Funeral Home, P.A., Bel Air, Maryland on Monday, March 8, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 9, at St. Margaret Catholic Church at 10 am. Burial will take place in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
