FETTER, Elizabeth “Susie” Hutcheson
Continuing to remember Susie’s courage, spirit, accomplishments, inspiration and her strength in the face of adversity...touching and influencing family, friends, neighbors, students, fellow teachers, writers and activists throughout her life. The family appreciates the many comforting sympathy notes and calls we received following her death...now again reread as Spring arrives two years later.
Here are a few excerpts from those messages:
“...one of the most loving and caring persons I have ever known...”
“...a beautiful, strong, gentle woman...simply unstoppable, somehow mystical and matter-of-fact at the same time...Count me in as one of the many people whose lives she touched...”
“...we admired her persistence and fortitude in so many activities here at Broadmead. We enjoyed her penetrating comments in the Monday Book Group... She was a shining example to others...”
“...a friend and a mentor...she was supportive of me as I [also] went through a serious bout of spondylitis... By her example she showed me I could live a full life and be strong and compassionate...”
“...she has been an inspiration and steady force...and a ready source of humor...”
“...Susie was so kind and generous when I was a teenager...She saw strengths in me and nurtured them...a great gift...”
