Leo Michael Kahl Sr., 3rd child of Michael (A World War 1 veteran) and Elizabeth Kahl of Forge Road in Perry Hall Maryland passed quietly on Tuesday, April 13th while with his wife of almost 67 years, Lorraine Weinreich Kahl and his three adult children, Leo Kahl Jr. , David Kahl and Brenda Renshaw. He was a brother to Norman Kahl, Margaret Dietz and Loretta Rutkowski and father-in-law to Robin Larkin Kahl and William Renshaw Jr.

Leo had 5 grandchild­ren (Ryan Kahl, a commercial airline pilot and wife Lindsey Kahl, Leah Kahl Smith, a mother and marketing profession­al married to Charles Smith, Mark Hofmann Jr. a Washington DC Firefighte­r and Paramedic, Brandon Kahl, a student at Loyola College and Stephanie Kahl) He was a great-grandfathe­r to Addison and Cameron Kahl and Chandler Cy Smith with another due to be born in July of this year.

Leo grew up helping his family operate their Forge Road produce farm. He was exceptiona­lly mechanical­ly inclined and was depended upon to repair the farm machinery and vehicles.

Leo drove a cement mixer (beginning with the Harry T. Campbell company in 1954) his entire working life, delivering concrete to every major constructi­on project in and around Baltimore.

He was a devout Catholic, and an active behind the scenes volunteer at many Saint Joseph’s Church functions and chicken dinners. Leo attended school at Saint Josephs until the 8th grade and his family was one of the founding families of St. Joseph’s parish in Fullerton, MD.

Leo was extremely devoted to his family and delighted in taking them camping, fishing and crabbing. Viewings will be held at the Lassahn Funeral Home in Kingsville, Maryland on Friday, April 16 from 2-5 pm and 7-9 pm. A Catholic Mass and Funeral Service will be held at Saint Joseph’s Church, Fullerton MD at 11 am on Saturday April 17th www.lassahnfun­eralhomes.com
