Jamie Lynn speaks out about Britney

- From news services

Actor and singer Jamie Lynn Spears broke her silence Monday on older sister Britney Spears’s recent remarks regarding her controversial conservatorship. While addressing a Los Angeles court last week, Britney Spears requested the termination of her “abusive” conservatorship, which has severely limited the artist’s autonomy for the past 13 years.

“I just want to take a second to address a few things,” Jamie Lynn Spears said Monday in a video posted to her Instagram story. “The only reason I haven’t before is because I felt like, before my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do.

“But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say. I think it’s extremely clear, since the day I was born, I’ve only loved, adored and supported my sister.”

Her comments seemed to take aim at people who have criticized Jamie Lynn Spears for not speaking up sooner on her older sister’s behalf. Ultimately, Jamie Lynn Spears said she’s “only concerned about her (sister’s) happiness.”

“Maybe I didn’t support (Britney) the way the public would like me to — with a hashtag on a public platform — but I can assure you that I’ve supported my sister long before there was a hashtag, and I’ll support her long after that,” Jamie Lynn Spears said, alluding to the #FreeBritney movement.

Even more support for Spears:

Ex-husband Kevin Federline and fellow “Mickey Mouse Club” alum Christina Aguilera

also spoke out on behalf of Britney Spears on Monday.

“What is best for her, Kevin supports her in being able to do that,” Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told “Entertainment Tonight.”

Spears shares two sons — Sean, 15, and Jayden, 14 — with Federline, whom she was to married from 2004 to 2007. During her court appearance last week, Spears accused her conservators of limiting her access to her children.

Federline believes Spears should have “the best environment for her to live in and for his children to visit with their mother in,” his lawyer said, and “feels that the best thing for his children is for their mother to be happy and healthy.”

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Aguilera defended Spears. “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish,” the singer tweeted.

“The conviction and desperation of this plea for freedom leads me to believe that this person I once knew has been living

without compassion or decency from those in control,” she continued.

Aguilera joins JC Chasez, Keri Russell and Ryan Gosling in voicing support for Spears, who was their castmate on the ’90s reboot, “The All-New Mickey Mouse Club.”
