LeBron day to day with muscle strain in left leg

-

LeBron James will miss at least the Lakers’ next game after straining a muscle in his left leg during the team’s fourth straight loss Wednesday.

An MRI exam on James revealed no tears in his adductor muscle, Lakers coach Darvin Ham said Thursday.

James is day to day with the strain, which occurred during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ 114-101 loss to the Clippers. The second-leading scorer in NBA history injured the muscle near his groin and walked gingerly to the locker room.

The Lakers host the Kings on Friday before the Nets visit on Sunday. The Lakers have the following four days off, which means James could get eight consecutive days of rest while missing only two games.

James, who turns 38 next month, said after the game that the injury wasn’t as significant as his groin strain on Christmas 2018 during his first season with the Lakers. That injury sidelined him for a month.

Baseball: Aaron Judge, Jacob deGrom and Xander Bogaerts were among 14 free agents who were given $19.65 million qualifying offers by their former teams. Players have until Nov. 20 to accept, and top players are expected to decline and pursue more lucrative long-term contracts on the free agent market.

Golf: Tony Finau, Aaron Wise and Sweden’s Alex Noren shot first-round 5-under 65s to share a one-stroke clubhouse lead at the Houston Open. Thirteen players hadn’t completed their round when play was suspended due to darkness.

NFL: Raiders LB Blake Martinez, who joined the team just over a month ago, retired. Martinez, 28, announced his decision on social media four days after leading the Raiders with 11 tackles in Sunday’s loss to the Jaguars. The 28-yearold Martinez wrote on Instagram: “I have chosen to step away from this career at this time to focus on my family and future passions!”
