‘There’s a chance’ for injured Ravens

LT Stanley, CB Humphrey may play Thursday vs. Bengals

Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley and cornerback Marlon Humphrey did not participate in practice Monday after suffering injuries in the team’s 33-31 loss to the Cleveland Browns, but coach John Harbaugh did not rule out either for Thursday’s quick-turn showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Not long term; I’d say day to day,” Harbaugh said of Humphrey and Stanley’s injuries. “Hopefully, we’ll get them to Thursday. There’s a chance.”

Humphrey was listed with a calf injury and Stanley with a knee injury on the simulated injury report the Ravens released because they were conducting a walkthrough instead of a full practice as they began preparations for the Bengals.

Injuries could be a significant subplot in this showdown between the AFC North-leading Ravens and defending division champion Cincinnati.

Three key Bengals starters — wide receiver Tee Higgins (hamstring) and edge rushers Trey Hendrickson (knee) and Sam Hubbard (ankle) — did not practice, according to Cincinnati’s simulated injury report.

Higgins and Hubbard missed the Bengals’ 30-27 loss to the Houston Texans, while Hendrickson limped off late in the game after he hyperextended his knee. Bengals coach Zac Taylor told Cincinnati reporters Hendrickson is day-to-day.

Hendrickson is Cincinnati’s top pass rusher with 8 ½ sacks and 13 quarterback hits. Higgins led the Bengals with eight catches for 89 yards and two touchdowns in their 27-24 Week 2 loss to the Ravens.

The Ravens embraced a quick return to work after they blew a fourth-quarter lead for the third time this season.

“We were right on the game plan today, right after the game,” Harbaugh said after Monday’s walk-through.

“After that game, we’re just going to take our mistakes, the good things and bad things, and learn from it and grow as a team,” tight end Mark Andrews said. “Luckily, we get to play Thursday.”

Not listed on the injury report was safety Marcus Williams, who returned to action against the Browns after missing the previous three games with a hamstring injury. Williams is also playing through pain from a pectoral injury he suffered in the season opener and appeared reluctant to tackle at times against Cleveland.

“I think it’s going to keep getting better as he gets more comfortable,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got some limitation there, kind of with the protection he’s got on it. But as it gets stronger, and it’s getting stronger, he’ll need less of that and get a little more range of motion. I think he’s going to be just fine.”

Williams played 77 of the team’s 78 defensive snaps Sunday while Geno Stone, who leads the NFL with six interceptions, played 52.

Rookie linebacker Trenton Simpson (concussion) was the only other nonparticipant for the Ravens on Monday while outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (groin) and safety Daryl Worley (hamstring) were listed as limited.

Right tackle Morgan Moses, who has missed the past two games with a shoulder injury, was listed as a full participant, while guard Kevin Zeitler, who hurt his knee during the Browns game, did not appear on the injury report.

Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie (knee) and linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) were listed as limited participants for the Bengals.
