2021 TOPPS BASEBALL JAPAN EDITION ON THE WAY
2021 Topps Baseball Japan Edition puts an international spin on the year’s flagship release.
At its core, it’s a condensed version of the main set, shrinking the Series 1 and Series 2 checklists down from 660 cards to just 220.
Base parallels and print runs are different as well with Cherry Blossoms (/99), Jade Green (/75), Purple (/50), Gold (/25), Red (/5) and Platinum (1/1).
Inserts look at how MLB and Japan intersect. First, there are cards spotlighting Japanese players who have headed to North America. Other inserts delve into MLB festivities taking place in Japan.
Insert parallels include Gold (/25), Red (/5) and Platinum (1/1). ere are also manufactured patch cards that have just ten copies each.
Autographs are also available with their own Red (/5) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.
Once it goes on sale, boxes will be available on Topps’ Japanese website for roughly $90 per box before shipping.
e approach to this release is similar to the one Topps did for UK collectors in 2020. Topps has a Japan-exclusive UEFA release as well.
