2021 TOPPS CHROME BLACK FOLLOWS LAST YEAR’S DEBUT

2021 Topps Chrome Black Baseball follows up on last year’s dark debut. While there are some familiar Chrome staples, the look stands out on its own.

e configuration is also different. Hobby boxes take a more high-end approach with just one four-card pack with one autograph guaranteed.

e base set is kept small, consisting of just 100 cards. However, with just two per box, it’s not likely that large stacks of singles are going to accumulate on a widespread scale. e checklist features both veterans and rookies.

e look of the cards is sleek and modern. Not surprisingly given the name, black plays a large role in the background. e geometric shapes are somewhat reminiscent of the Topps Tek line only with chromium and a matte finish instead of transparent acetate.

Parallels, which combine to land one per box, follow a familiar Topps Chrome path with a rainbow of Refractors. ese include:

Super Futures Autographs focus on baseball’s young players. Base versions are numbered to 99 with additional Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1) also available.
