Back again in 1989, this time

K-Mart focused on some of the top newcomers of the 1988 season, as well as players who turned in standout rookie performances earlier in the decade.

e first 11 cards were dedicated to the top rookies of 1988, including Mark Grace, Ron Gant, Jay Buhner, Chris Sabo, Walt Weiss and Gregg Jefferies.

e next 11 went to AL stars who had debuted earlier in the 1980s, including Cal Ripken Jr., Wade Boggs, Don Mattingly and Roger Clemens. e final 11 went to NL stars who began their career in the ‘80s, including Ryne Sandberg, Tony Gwynn, Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry.

It’s one of the cleaner designs of the K-Mart boxed set era, and I’ve definitely tracked down one of each of the Cubs players (Sandberg, Grace, Shawon Dunston, Damon Berryhill) for my own PC.
