ON DECK: 2021 ELITE EXTRA EDITION
BASEBALL BOXES INCLUDE MULTIPLE AUTOGRAPHS
Draft picks and prospects are the backbone once again in 2021 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball, one of the card-maker’s longest-running brands for the sport. It’s also packed with hits, autographs in particular.
Despite having just five packs, Hobby boxes deliver eight signatures and a pair of memorabilia cards.
The base set is where collectors will find some of Panini’s first cards of 2021 draft picks. They’re joined by other prospects from both North America and the international scene.
Standard base cards are serial numbered to 999 copies. According to Panini, there are also 16 levels of parallels on top of that.
Base autographs adopt a similar design.
A couple of insert sets use Panini’s chromium Optic brand. First, there’s Elite Extra Edition Optic, a shiny makeover for the main set. College Ticket Optic stems out of the Contenders line. More autographs are available on these.
Panini continues to hold an exclusive deal with the Dominican Prospect League. This means prospects who are still not even eligible to sign with MLB teams until next year. These players have both standard cards and on-card autographs.
Other autographs on the checklist include Hidden Gems and Prospect Material Signatures.
As for memorabilia cards, they include First Round Materials, which showcases only top names from the 2021 draft.
Panini is also bringing some tough inserts in the form of Passing the Torch and Pulse.
