Herbert landing with the Chargers was no surprise. e team parted ways with Philip Rivers, so this was a great fit. Herbert likely would have been a first-round pick had he come out early last season, and he improved in just about every aspect of his game as a senior, passing for 3,471 yards, 32 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He also led Oregon to a Pac-12 title and a Rose Bowl win. “What is there not to like about him? I think he answered every question and passed every test,” Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn said about Herbert before the dra .“is was a four-year senior. is guy goes to the Senior Bowl, he’s MVP there. He goes to the Combine, competes his tail off at the Combine… All he did was lead his team to the Rose Bowl his senior year and he made plays.” Tyrod Taylor will be the starter to begin the season, and Easton Stick will be in his second season. Herbert has a great shot at significant playing time if loses begin to pile up under Taylor. Collectors will focus heavily on Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, and Herbert’s autographs are currently valued at less than half the value of their autographs.
